I haven't written in a while, I've been watching from afar and my heart is struggling the ups and downs of the past few weeks. From the highs of the victories over Sunderland and The Blunts to the disappointments of dropped points against QPR, Swansea and Luton it's been a rollercoaster.
But you would expect nothing less as a Leeds fan and from this Division.
The last few matches have seen us steady the ship somewhat with one goal wins against Preston, Middlesborough and, more recently, a massive 3 pointer away at Oxford. With the Blunts dropping points over the last few matches, albeit getting back to winning ways against Cardiff, it leaves the way open for a possible promotion party on Easter Monday.
I'll be lucky enough to be high up in the East Stand with my brother who flies in from South Carolina, when we take the field against Stoke knowing that a win coupled with Wilders boys dropping points against Burnley will be enough. Though I'm am hopeful this will be the case, I'm sure there will be a few more twists and turns before the day is out. I think we are in a good place now and with 3 games remaining we know the 4 points will be enough to secure promotion no matter what Sheffield United or Burnley do.
Credit to the squad of players who have responded well over the last 3 games to put us into this position. Farke's finally bit the bullet after Swansea and put Meslier out of his misery. Darlow has been steady if not spectacular, but he hasn't needed to be as the form of the defence on front of him led by Rodon, who for me has to be up there for player of the season, has been exceptional. Ampadu has filled the gap left by Pascal's injury and with the defensive shield of Gruev and Tanaka allowing our full backs to bomb forward and create countless chances for the front 4 we have come good at the right time.
Stoke won't be easy. They are on a good run of form but they haven't come up against a team like us in that run and a packed Elland Rd, the return of Dan James, who adds more threat than Gnonto, and the prospect of securing promotion with 2 games to go should be enough to see us get the 3 points we crave.
Hopefully by the time I arrive back at Manchester Airport for my flight back to Cork Leeds will be a Premier League team once again. MOT ALAW
